Terrorism and Misinformation are tools of Fascism and Imperialist War

The past five years since the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers of New York and other targets in the United States, has been a period of growing fascism and of dangerous and destructive wars of conquest. What was a tragic incident became the springboard for US imperialism to launch its heightened offensive to become the unquestioned superpower of the world.

In 1990, even as the Soviet Union was self destructing, and socialism was being destroyed, the US and other leading imperialist powers of the world signed the Paris Charter. They declared that all countries henceforth must adopt multi-party democracy and the "free market" and announced that there is no longer any danger of war. However, the opposition to the imperialists developed all accross the world, and by the end of the twentieth century, the imperialists were facing real problems in "peacefully" redividing up the world. The terrorist attack of 9/11 has served US imperialism in its efforts to impose a new doctrine and new arrangements for global security, in place of those that had emerged from the victory over Nazi fascism and those that existed during the Cold War period.

Democratic rights and civil liberties that had been won in the 20 th century have been drastically curtailed in this five-year period in the leading capitalist democracies. Sovereign nations and peoples in Asia have been bombed and occupied. Muslims all over the world are facing persecution as a result of the imperialist ideological offensive against ‘Islamic fundamentalism’. All this has been and continues to be done in the name of waging “war on terror”.

The past five years have been a period when blatant lies have been manufactured and sought to be established as accepted wisdom, by well planned misinformation through the media. It is to be remembered that Nazi fascism arose in Germany precisely through the use of this method of repeating lies on a daily basis until they become accepted as truth.

The Bush administration declared that they had "conclusive proof" that the attacks on the Twin Towers and the Penatogon were masterminded by an underground network of jehaadis led by Osama Bin Laden, headquartered in the then Taliban ruled Afghanistan. It is interesting to note that US is supposed to have shared this "conclusive proof" with Britain's Tony Blair. They refused to share it with other countries. Using this story as the justification for attacking Afghanistan, Anglo-American imperialism rained bombs on Afghanistan, occupied that country with their troops, carried out regime change in that country, and remain as an occupation force there till today.

Next, the Bush administration manufactured and widely publicized the story that Iraq's President Saddam Hussein was in possession of deadly Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs), and that he must be destroyed as otherwise he would allegedly destroy the world. The Blair government repeated and spread this story. Using this accusation as the justification, Anglo-American imperialism unleashed deadly weapons of mass destruction on Iraq and its people, occupied it by force and remains there until today.

The story about Iraq has already been exposed to the world as a blatant lie manufactured in Washington and London. There were no WMDs in Iraq, nor did the Saddam regime have any links with Osama Bin Laden, as was claimed by Bush and Blair.

The story about 9/11 is yet to be thoroughly exposed. However, numerous facts have exposed gaping holes in the official conspiracy theory. A group of scientists have claimed that the crashing of airplanes at such a height could not, on their own, have brought down the entire structures of the Twin Towers in New York. Several observers and analysts have pointed to the mysterious exit of a plane load of members of the Bin Laden family, who were known to have close connections with leaders in the Bush administration. There are US army veterans, who have argued that the execution of the aggression on Afghanistan shows that it was prepared and planned since several months before 11 th September, 2001.

It may not be a coincidence that the Project for the New American Century (PNAC), a US think tank reportedly closely connected with the US adminstration had prescribed the course to be followed by the US to continue its domination of the world in the 21th century. In a document titled 'Rebuilding America's Defenses: Strategy, Forces and Resources For a New Century' published by PNAC, well before 9/11, it is stated :" Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a new Pearl Harbor." It is evident that the PNAC reccomendations have been implemented by the Bush adminstration in the past 5 years.

The developments in the real world have exposed this illusion that capitalism can flourish peacefully. Facts have confirmed that capitalism has reached a stage where it cannot prolong its life without militarization and war, without destroying entire nations and peoples. ‘War on terror’ is the slogan of this dying class and system, to keep itself alive at the cost of all of humanity.

The past five years have witnessed a new upsurge in the worldwide movement against fascism and imperialist war. Nations and peoples of the world are refusing to accept Anglo-American ‘regime change’ and ‘nation building’. The patriots in Afghanistan and Iraq continue to strike powerful blows at the imperialist occupation forces and their local collaborators. The majority of people within the US are demanding the withdrawal of occupation troops from Iraq. The valiant fighters of Lebanon and Palestine have inspired other Arab peoples to also rise against the aggressive, racist and expansionist US backed Israeli state. A growing number of governments in Latin America have begun to openly resist US domination and dictate, a sign of the upsurge in anti-imperialist struggles in that continent.
